"Portals of the Past" - all that was left of the Towne Mansion on California Street in San Francisco, on the morning after he 1906 earthquake - the City Hall in the background, the caption in the Chronicle, "Portals of the Past". The marble portals are now displayed in Golden Gate Park, easy to find and a pleasant short walk around a little lake to access them
